Beef Sticks for Backpacks

In 2020, a new program to help provide protein in the form of a beef stick to children was started. The Beef Sticks for Backpacks program’s mission is to create a world where no child in Colorado suffers from weekend food insecurity. Beef Sticks for Backpacks was formerly Beef Bank Colorado and underwent a name change to more clearly express to donors and potential donors what the initiative sets out to do. With the new name, it’s clear- they put beef sticks in backpacks for the kids of Colorado.

This program produces a high-quality beef stick in Colorado on the CSU Campus. They then work with local groups to deliver beef sticks to be added to the packs sent home with children that need help having enough food over the weekend. However, each local school district may have a different organization that fills this need.

The group’s website, www.beefsticks.org, has a form to fill out if you know of a school program that would like to receive the beef sticks. Simply complete the form to help make the connection. And, while you are there, make a donation to help supply more beef sticks to kids in need.
